How TrailRank ranks a camera
TrailRank is an independent editorial site about trail cameras. The desk is not a hunting outfitter and not a manufacturer. Pages exist to answer a buying question or a failure: which camera fits the job, and what to change when the card comes back empty.
What a score is
The TrailRank score is our editorial number out of 10. It is not an Amazon star rating and it is not a lab measurement. We weigh four things: how deep the owner record is, whether the rating is high or mixed, whether the camera removes a common failure (a forgotten SD card, a mandatory plan, a weak weather rating), and whether the specs match a real job. A fast trigger and a quiet flash help. A 60-degree field of view or 720p video costs points when the rest of the lineup does better.
We do not award points for a campaign, a banner, or a request to be featured. On November 4, 2026 we checked a VOOPEAK TC32 listing, ASIN B0HKVRR685. The page was live and in stock, and it showed nine reviews. That is not enough owner history to rank a camera, so it is not in the lineup and we do not link it. A camera can be added later if the record gets deep enough to judge.
What we checked
Every ASIN in the lineup resolved to a live Amazon product page on November 4, 2026, and the page showed the camera as in stock that day. Amazon ratings printed on the reviews are labeled with that date because they move. We do not print prices. Prices move faster than ratings, and a hardcoded number would be a lie within a week. The button goes to the current Amazon offer.
What we do not claim
We did not hang every camera on the same oak for a season. Where a maker states a range, a trigger time, or a weather rating, we treat it as the maker's claim and say so. Where owners disagree, the review says they disagree. If you spot a dead listing or a spec that has changed, write to hello@comparetrailcameras.com.
