Check price on AmazonA strong cellular camera with a real review record, not just a spec sheet. We still start most people on the Reveal X 3.0 because that owner record is larger and the trigger claim is faster. Buy the Edge 3 if four-carrier coverage or feeder control is the point.
Best for: Landowners who already use the Moultrie app or a compatible feeder.
What holds up
- Automatically searches four U.S. networks
- Listing advertises buck detection and fewer junk uploads
- Live Aim helps you frame the shot before you leave
- GPS maps the camera in the app
- Can control a compatible Moultrie feeder from the same app
What does not
- A paid plan is required. There is no free photo tier on this listing.
- Advertised trigger is slower than the Tactacam and GardePro
- 50 degree field of view is narrow
- Review count is solid but much smaller than Tactacam or SPYPOINT

Who the Edge 3 is for
The Moultrie Edge 3 is the cellular camera to buy when you want more than a photo in an app. The listing advertises buck detection, Live Aim so you can see the frame while you strap the camera, GPS, and control of a compatible Moultrie feeder. It also claims a four-network auto-connect, which is a wider net than the AT&T-or-Verizon sentence on the Tactacam page.
It is not our default. The Tactacam REVEAL X 3.0 has a larger owner record and a quicker trigger claim. Buy the Edge 3 when those extra jobs are the reason you are shopping, not because the megapixel number is higher.
What we verified
On November 4, 2026 the single-camera listing, ASIN B0FJBNWRZT, was in stock and showed 4.3 from 230 ratings. That is a real sample. It is not a thousand-review sample. The best-seller rank that day was high. Rank is a popularity snapshot. We do not score popularity.
The hardware list: 40 MP stills, 1080p video, a 0.5-second trigger, low-glow infrared with a 100-foot claim, and a 50-degree field of view. Fifty degrees is narrow. Narrow can be good on a trail if you aim it like a rifle. It is bad on a field edge, where deer cross outside the cone and you conclude the camera is "missing deer." It is not missing them. It never saw them.
The AI claim, read carefully
The product bullets say Moultrie AI identifies bucks and pushes those images. The product description says AI also cuts false triggers. A FAQ on the same page talks about Pro versions eliminating false triggers before upload, and it tells ordinary owners to lower sensitivity because wind and moving trees still trip the PIR. Hold both sentences at once. The sensor still fires on heat and motion. Software may decide what to upload. It does not repeal physics. A camera strapped to a tree that sways will still work hard, and you will still pay to transmit wind if the filter is optimistic.
Use the filter. Do not skip the mount. A tree that does not move, a clearing in front of the lens, and a sensitivity setting you earned with two days of pictures will do more for false triggers than any logo.
Plans, power, and the walk you still take
Moultrie says a plan is required, priced per camera, with no contract. There is no free photo tier on this listing. The SPYPOINT FLEX-M is the camera in this lineup that advertises one. If the plan fee is your objection, do not talk yourself into the Edge 3.
Power is AA cells, with rechargeable packs and solar panels as upgrades. The FAQ suggests slowing the upload schedule if you want the cells to last, and it warns off generic batteries. That is ordinary good advice. A cellular radio plus a night flash is a heavy load. "Set and forget" is a plan plus a power source that can meet it, not a slogan.
Live Aim is the feature we would actually use on day one. Preview the frame in the app, shift the strap an inch, and look again. Most missed deer are an aim error frozen in place for a month.
The two-year warranty is described as starting when you activate the camera in the app. Activate it. A camera that sits in a closet and then fails in the woods is a worse story if the clock never started.
Where it sits in the lineup
Choose the Edge 3 over the Reveal X 3.0 if your property is a carrier patchwork, if you want the buck tag, or if a Moultrie feeder is already part of the setup. Choose the Reveal if you want the simpler "photos, onboard storage, large review record" camera and you can live on AT&T or Verizon. Choose a card camera if you do not want a plan at all.
The Oculview TC18 is not the alternative here. It is a live pan-tilt camera sold as a 2-pack. Different job.
A fair test
Hang it for a week on a trail you already know, with the upload schedule slower than "instant," and compare the photos to a card camera on the same trail if you have one. You are looking for three things: does it report without you visiting, does the frame contain the animal instead of the canopy, and does the AI tag match what you see. If those three are true, the camera is doing the job. If it goes quiet, check signal and power before you assume the radio failed. The no-signal field note is the checklist.
Questions we hear on this
Does the Edge 3 work without a subscription?
No. Moultrie says a plan is required, the same way a phone line is required. The camera can still be adjusted on site if there is no signal, but remote photos need the plan.
Will the AI stop empty pictures?
The listing says AI focuses on bucks and cuts false uploads. The PIR sensor still fires on heat and motion, including wind in brush. Treat AI as a filter, not a cure.
What if my phone has a different carrier than the woods?
The camera picks the strongest network it can see, which may not match your phone. A dead zone is still a dead zone.
