Tactacam REVEAL X 3.0: the cellular camera we would hang first
A cellular still camera that sends photos over LTE, stores them on the device, and locks onto AT&T or Verizon. It is not a live-view pan-tilt camera.

Best for: Hunters who want photos on a phone without buying an SD card first.
What holds up
- Onboard storage, so a forgotten SD card does not blank the set
- Preinstalled antenna and SIM, with automatic AT&T or Verizon selection
- Deep Amazon review record at a high rating when we checked
- Narrow trigger window and a 3-shot burst for deer on a trail
- IP66 housing and a multi-month battery claim with the right cells
What does not
- A paid cellular plan is part of owning it
- 60 degree field of view is narrow if the trail is wide
- No live pan-tilt stream on this model
- T-Mobile is not named as a carrier on the listing we checked

Who the Reveal X 3.0 is for
The Tactacam REVEAL X 3.0 is the cellular camera we would hand to someone hanging a first phone-reporting set on a deer trail. It sends stills over LTE, it keeps them on the camera itself, and the Amazon listing we checked on November 4, 2026 showed 4.4 from 1,017 ratings. That is a deep enough record to trust the pattern, not just the spec sheet.
It is the wrong camera if you want to swing a lens from the couch. Tactacam sells other Reveal models with live video. This one does not advertise a pan-tilt stream. It is also the wrong camera if your ridge is T-Mobile only. The page we read names AT&T and Verizon.
What you actually get
The model number on the listing is RV-TC-XGEN3. The antenna and the SIM arrive installed. Setup is the REVEAL app, a QR code, and a wait for the first photo. The maker says most people are receiving pictures in a few minutes. Believe the shape of that claim, then still do a test photo at the tree before you drive away. A camera that "works in the kitchen" has not proven the hollow.
Photos are advertised as 4K stills, with 1080p video. The trigger is described as under half a second, with a 3-shot burst. That burst is the feature that matters on a trail narrower than the field of view. A single frame often catches the shoulder. The second and third frames catch the head.
The field of view is 60 degrees. That is narrow. A wide food plot will show you the middle and miss the edges. Hang this camera on a pinch point: a creek crossing, a gate gap, a trail that funnels between two blowdowns. Aim it at where the deer must pass, not at the entire valley.
GPS is built in, which helps when you forget which oak you used in October. The housing is rated IP66. That is a real outdoor number, dust-tight and protected against strong water jets, not a marketing shrug.
The owner record
A thousand ratings at 4.4 is the reason this camera leads the lineup. Owners are not a lab. They do tell you whether the app activation is a Saturday project or a ten-minute job, and whether the camera is still reporting in December. The distribution we saw was heavily five-star, with a real one-star tail. Read the one-star notes for your carrier and your winter. Do not average them away.
We do not treat "4K+ bought in the past month," which the listing also showed, as proof of quality. It is proof of demand. Demand and a high rating together are more useful than demand alone.
Power and plans
A paid cellular plan is part of the purchase. We do not print the fee because it changes. Budget for a plan before you buy a second camera. Two cameras are two lines.
Battery life is marketed as multi-month on the right cells, with lithium cartridges and solar panels sold separately. Alkaline cells in a January cold snap are the usual way to make that claim fail. If the camera still takes a daytime test photo and then goes silent at night, the flash is asking for current the cells cannot give. That failure mode is covered in the night-photo field note. It is not unique to Tactacam, and it is the first thing to check before you call the camera dead.
Where it loses
The SPYPOINT FLEX-M wins if you want a free monthly photo allotment and you will not outgrow it. The Moultrie Edge 3 wins if you need four carriers or you already run a Moultrie feeder from the same app. The GardePro A3 wins if you refuse a plan entirely and you can pull a card. The Reveal X 3.0 wins the default cellular job: a proven photo camera that does not make you buy a memory card before the first weekend.
Setup sequence we would actually use
Put lithium power in it at home. Create the app account on wifi, not on the tailgate. Scan the code. Confirm a photo arrives. Then carry it to the tree, aim it lower than your instinct (chest height on a deer, not sky), and take another test photo. Look at that photo on the phone before you lock the strap. If the frame is half sky, the detection zone is wrong and you will spend a month photographing wind.
Leave the sensitivity off the maximum until you have seen two days of pictures. Maximum sensitivity plus a swaying branch is how cellular plans get expensive. The camera is not smarter than the aim.
Questions we hear on this
Does the Reveal X 3.0 need an SD card?
The listing says photos transfer from built-in storage, so you do not have to buy a card before the first set. A card is still useful on non-cellular cameras, not on this one.
Can I watch this camera live?
This model is a photo-sending cellular camera. Tactacam sells other Reveal models with live video. Do not buy the X 3.0 if pan-tilt live view is the feature you want.
Which carriers does it use?
The product page we checked says the SIM locks onto AT&T or Verizon, whichever is stronger at the camera. It does not name T-Mobile.
