Tactacam as the default. Moultrie if feeders or four-carrier coverage decide it. Start with the Reveal X 3.0. Move to the Edge 3 when you already live in the Moultrie app, you want the advertised buck filter, or your ridge is a carrier coin-flip and four networks matter more than trigger speed.

Two paid cellular cameras

The Tactacam REVEAL X 3.0 and the Moultrie Edge 3 both assume you will pay a plan. Neither is the free-tier camera. That camera is the SPYPOINT FLEX-M, and it gives up video quality to get there. This page is for the person who has already accepted a plan and wants to know which box to strap to the tree.

Our scores are 8.8 for the Reveal and 8.3 for the Edge 3. The Edge 3 is not a loser. It is the pick when its extra jobs are your jobs.

Evidence

On November 4, 2026 the Reveal showed 4.4 from 1,017 ratings and was in stock. The Edge 3 showed 4.3 from 230 ratings and was in stock. Both ratings are good. The Reveal has about four times the reviews. A newer camera can be excellent and still have less proof. We do not punish the Edge 3 for being newer. We also do not give it the default seat while the proof is still catching up.

Best-seller rank moves daily. The Edge 3 was popular when we looked. Popularity is not the score.

Networks and the map

The Reveal locks onto AT&T or Verizon. The Edge 3 says it will search four U.S. networks and take the strongest. If you have walked the property and the only signal is a carrier the Reveal does not name, the Edge 3 is the practical winner before any other spec is discussed. A photo that never sends is not a 40-megapixel photo. It is a blank.

Both have GPS in the app. Both can be tested from the tree. The Edge 3 adds Live Aim, which is a preview while you are still adjusting the strap. We like that feature more than we like the megapixel gap. Most bad sets are aim, and a preview shortens the argument.

Triggers, lenses, and the deer

The Reveal's trigger is advertised under half a second with a 3-shot burst. The Edge 3's trigger is advertised at 0.5 seconds. On a trotting deer in a narrow frame, half a second is the difference between a shoulder and an empty trail. On a deer that pauses at a scrape, both cameras get the picture.

The Reveal's field of view is 60 degrees. The Edge 3's is 50. Both are narrow. Both want a funnel. If you need a wide field, neither of these is the tool. A card camera with a wide detection angle, hung close, is a different design. The GardePro A3 is that design, and it does not send the photo home.

The Edge 3 advertises buck detection that pushes those frames forward. Read the listing's own FAQ beside the bullet. Wind and moving trees still trip a PIR. AI may filter what you are billed to look at. It does not stop the sensor from firing. Mount the camera on a tree that does not sway, and clear the cone, or you will test the filter harder than the deer do.

Feeders and the app you already have

If a Moultrie feeder is part of the property, the Edge 3's ability to sit in that app and control a compatible feeder is a real reason to stop comparing spec sheets. One app with the camera and the feeder beats a slightly nicer camera in a second app you will forget to open. That is an ownership argument, not a sensor argument, and it is allowed to win.

If you do not have that feeder, it is not a reason to buy one. Do not expand a gadget pile to justify a camera.

Storage and the first weekend

The Reveal's onboard storage is the quiet advantage. You are not shopping for a card on the way out of town. The Edge 3 is built around the app and local options that depend on how you run it. Either way, take a test photo at the tree. Cellular cameras make that test cheap. Use it.

Power advice is the same for both. Lithium cells or the maker's pack, not a sagging alkaline set, if you care about night flash. A paid plan on a camera that cannot fire its LEDs is a poor subscription.

Pick

Buy the Tactacam REVEAL X 3.0 unless one of these is true: you need the wider carrier search, you want the buck tag and Live Aim enough to accept a smaller review sample, or you already run Moultrie feeders. In those cases buy the Moultrie Edge 3 and aim it like it has a 50-degree lens, because it does.

If the plan itself is the problem, leave this page. The FLEX-M comparison is the other fork.

Questions we hear on this

Which has the better night flash?

Both are built for night stills. Tactacam does not lead with a no-glow claim on this model. Moultrie calls its flash low-glow. If an invisible flash is the priority, a no-glow card camera such as the GardePro A3 is the cleaner answer.

Is the smaller Moultrie review count a problem?

230 reviews at 4.3 is enough to take the camera seriously. It is not as much evidence as a thousand reviews. That is why Moultrie is a conditional pick, not the default.

Can I skip the plan on either one?

No. Both are cellular cameras with a paid plan. The SPYPOINT FLEX-M is the lineup camera with a free photo allotment.
