Head to head
Tactacam REVEAL X 3.0 vs SPYPOINT FLEX-M
Both send photos over LTE. The split is storage, video quality, and whether a plan is required on day one.

The decision in one pass
These are both fixed cellular cameras that text you a photo. They are not pan-tilt live-view cameras. The Tactacam REVEAL X 3.0 is the one we would buy for a first serious set. The SPYPOINT FLEX-M is the one we would buy if a monthly plan is the reason you keep almost buying a cellular camera and then talking yourself out of it.
The scores are 8.8 and 8.0. The gap is not "one of them is a toy." The gap is owner mood, video resolution, and whether a memory card stands between you and the first picture.
Setup friction
The Reveal arrives with the antenna and the SIM already in place, and the listing says you do not need an SD card for the photos to reach the app. That removes two classic first-weekend failures: a card seated backward, and a card so slow the camera gives up. You still need a plan. You still need to stand at the tree and confirm a test photo before you leave.
The FLEX-M arrives as a U.S. camera with two preactivated SIMs and no card. SPYPOINT is explicit that the microSD is required. Budget a name-brand card into the same trip as the camera. The first boot can sit for a while pulling firmware. Do that boot at home. People who do it in a weak-signal spot decide the camera is dead when it is still updating.
What the pictures are
Reveal stills are advertised as 4K, with 1080p video and a trigger under half a second plus a 3-shot burst. The lens is 60 degrees. That is a trail camera, not a field camera. Aim it at a funnel.
FLEX-M stills are 28 MP, which is plenty for "who walked here." Video stops at 720p with sound. If video is how you decide to hunt a stand the next morning, the Reveal is ahead. If a still is enough, the FLEX-M is not embarrassed. Its trigger claim is 0.4 seconds and the flash is low-glow out to a claimed 90 feet. Low-glow means a faint red. Do not hang it in the deer's face.
The plan, which is the whole argument
Tactacam expects a paid line. SPYPOINT includes a free monthly photo allotment and sells larger tiers. We are not printing prices. The structure is what you can plan on: light use can stay inside SPYPOINT's free tier, and heavy use or a lot of video will not. A windy false-trigger week will also knock you out of a free tier. Aim and sensitivity are financial settings on this camera.
If you already know you will run instant uploads all season, stop optimizing for the free tier and buy the Reveal. You will pay either way. You might as well pay for the camera with the calmer review record and the simpler storage.
The owner records
On November 4, 2026 the Reveal listing showed 4.4 from 1,017 ratings. The FLEX-M US listing showed 3.9 from 2,701 ratings. More people have written about the SPYPOINT. They are less consistently happy. The complaints that repeat on this family are batteries that collapse and cameras that stop reporting until someone visits. A free plan does not refund a drive to reboot a camera.
The Reveal's unhappy tail exists too. Read it for your carrier. The center of the record is kinder. That is why the default pick is Tactacam even though SPYPOINT has the cleverer pricing.
Networks
The Reveal page names AT&T and Verizon. The FLEX-M uses dual SIMs and says it will find a network without you choosing a carrier in a store. If your ridge is a known T-Mobile pocket and Verizon is a rumor, lean SPYPOINT or look at the Moultrie Edge 3, which claims four networks. If you have Verizon or AT&T at the tree, the Reveal's carrier sentence is enough.
Neither camera helps a hollow with no LTE. Test the spot with a phone before you spend the money.
Which one to hang
Choose the Tactacam REVEAL X 3.0 if this is the camera you will be annoyed to mess with. Choose the SPYPOINT FLEX-M if you will actually keep the transmit schedule modest and you are willing to own the card and the mixed reviews. Do not choose the FLEX-M as a secret security system. It will disappoint you, and the reviews already filed that report.
The buying guide covers the aim, the batteries, and the card so the camera you pick has a chance. The night-photo and "not sending" field notes are the pages to open before you return either one.
Questions we hear on this
Which one is cheaper to own?
The camera price moves around, so check Amazon. The ownership split is the plan. SPYPOINT includes a free monthly photo allotment. Tactacam expects a paid plan. Heavy video use erases the SPYPOINT advantage.
Which is more reliable?
Tactacam's rating is higher. SPYPOINT's sample is larger and more mixed, with a visible share of owners who say the camera stops reporting or eats batteries. Neither camera works in a cellular dead zone.
Do either of them pan and tilt?
No. Both are fixed boxes aimed with a strap. For live pan-tilt, see the Oculview TC18, and read the caveats before you treat it as a deer camera.
